Bob Parent (1923-1987)

In 1945, inspired by the book "Young Man With A Horn" by Dorothy Baker and the photography of Gjon Mili, Bob quit his job to pursue a career as a photographer. His passion for live jazz lead him to pioneer advanced techniques in available light photography and avoiding the use of the flash bulb altogether. From the dimly lit jazz clubs of the early 1950s to the civil rights movement of the 1960s and 1970s, Bob was there with his armada of cameras capturing the intensity of the moment. A short film about his life can be viewed here.
